Brand new Mountain Drifters! CLOSING THE GAP - is now AVAILABLE

"Closing The Gap" is a snapshot of the Mountain Drifters after a period of intense touring, of learning each other’s “isms” and instincts, and as a result slowly developing our collective “isms” and instincts as a unit. This album is MMD in our natural and instinctual state of BEING; raw, playful and free, the way the music is meant to be. The music is hopeful and optimistic and comes from the heart, and so we start the story off with this: “There’s a bright side somewhere, ain’t gonna rest until I find it,” . And we look at the world all around us, and that thought continues to resonate, The title track Allison de Groot's “Closing the Gap”  feels like a race. Each note tries to catch up with the next, narrowing the gap and steadily propelling the tune from one section to the next. . .

Order the CD from our Online Store or for digital downloads and out of US CD orders:, or most anywhere you usually prefer to get your music!

Molsky's Mountain Drifters @ Old Time Music Workshop & Jam

Old Time Music Workshop & Jam, West Hartford, CT

wo years ago at the first appearance of Molsky's Mountain Drifters at The Sounding Board, we hosted an afternoon teaching workshop with Molsky's Mountain Drifters. It was so much fun that we decided to do it again.

This is your chance to learn from three of America's most accomplished old-time musicians in an intimate setting. The first 45 minutes of the workshop will feature individual sessions with the members of the group; fiddlers with Bruce Molsky, banjo pickers with Allison de Groot, and guitarists with Stash Wyslouch. For the second 45 minutes, we'll get together again for a pickin' session with the entire band.
